Customs clearance
We handle the complete export and import clearance of your vehicle – including reclaiming the VAT paid abroad.
Two steps: export and import
First the vehicle is registered for export with German customs. With the correct electronic export declaration you receive the export certificate and can reclaim the VAT paid abroad (e.g. 19% in Germany). Import clearance in Switzerland then follows.
Which taxes apply
On a regular import, 8.1% Swiss VAT and 4% automobile tax apply, calculated on the net purchase price converted at the customs exchange rate. If the vehicle qualifies as relocation goods, the import can be duty-free.
Documents required
For the import declaration we need the purchase contract, the EC Certificate of Conformity (COC) and – if available – the certificate of origin or EUR.1. Preparation usually takes two working days; an express service is available on request.
